Toronto’s Grocery Bag Tax: Fail.

Posted on September 15, 2009September 14, 2009 by Shovas

When the grocery bag tax was being debated I didn’t mind very much at all. I felt such a program would be great for not just encouraging reducing our use of them but would be a great source of money for green initiatives. It never occurred to me the program’s purpose was to tax. Full stop.

The grocery bag tax money doesn’t go back to the city? The money isn’t redirected to environmental issues?

Who thinks up these ideas? What a monumental waste of everybody’s time.

You fail Toronto.
