Canada’s Forests Over-consume Its CO2 Output Many Times Over

  • Canada’s official numbers for its “managed” forests suggest our forests are a net CO2 source (“bad”) not a sink (“good”)
  • I was highly skeptical of that so I made a spreadsheet of various plausibility scenarios
  • I discovered a few discrepancies but most importantly that in all but the most cynical and politically motivated scenarios Canada’s forests are a net CO2 sink, as you would expect
  • So, yes, let’s plant more trees. Let’s have every country on earth plant more trees.
