The Poetic English of Psalm 121 Revealed by ChatGPT

Posted on October 22, 2023October 29, 2023 by Matt

The Psalms are talked about as some of the great poetry of English literature and yet I have always wondered if something was lost in translation. Were we hearing what the original hearers were hearing? So, I asked ChatGPT to help English speakers hear it in a new way. Here are those results. Contents1 Psalm…

If God told you to kill a baby, would you?

Posted on August 6, 2023April 17, 2024 by Matt

If God told you to kill a baby, would you? What kind of a question is that? Good question. The following is a re-post of a Twitter exchange of someone trying a ‘gotcha’ moment on a pro life post. The idea would be to catch someone in a trap if they are pro life yet support the death of children as commanded by God and recorded in the Bible.

Portable Encrypted File and Password Manager for Windows, Mac, and Linux You Can Make Yourself

Posted on July 25, 2023October 21, 2023 by Matt

With just a USB drive, PortableApps, and VeraCrypt, you have what you need to create a portable, encrypted file and password manager that works on Windows and Linux using simple plain-text files. PortableApps provides a Start Menu-like GUI interface and selection of apps that can be installed. PortableApps is a convenient way to carry the rest of the apps with you, usually on a usb stick, that are used to create and use your own portable file and password manager. While I’m also referring to it as a ‘password manager’, it’s just a file system with files and folders and, so, with VeraCrypt or other encryption you can create a password manager or secure anything else you’d prefer.

Accidental Greatness: Steve McQueen’s Le Mans (1971)

Posted on June 16, 2023August 14, 2024 by Matt

Steve McQueen’s Le Mans (1971) was a commercial disaster and, by all standard interpretation, an objectively bad film. It’s slow, self-indulgent, woodenly acted, sparse in dialog, and even sparser in character development. And, yet, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of movies I’ve watched more than once and McQueen’s Le…

I crafted the thought below as an poetic experiment to understand illustrate how generations affect subsequent generations and to provide an illustration of how it is we got to this point.

The following story was entirely generated by ChatGPT+ with GPT-4. YouTube Finds: Cyberpunk Documentary

Posted on March 7, 2023March 7, 2023 by Matt

A surprisingly well-written and deep look at cyberpunk and its origins in sci-fi and its growth into its own. From short stories to books to movies and video games, it’s all here. And perhaps, most importantly, the meaningful, existential ideas and questions that cyberpunk surfaces also get attention throughout.

YouTube Finds: Historic Prince Edward Island

Posted on March 7, 2023March 9, 2023 by Matt

Prince Edward Island is a place out of time, a place behind the time, a place resting in time: Cradled on the waves, as the indigenous Mi’kmaq called it. PEI has a long history with our Ontario-based family having road-tripped out many times in our childhood. My father and my brother, and their families, have…
