LiliAna Rose: There’s something special going on here.

Posted on July 25, 2010July 24, 2010 by Shovas

Check out LiliAna Rose, a young folksy youtube phenomenon. There’s a certain special quality to her style, her voice and her delivery. There’s something quite refreshingly authentic about both herself and her music. She’s definitely not your overdone, teenie starlet, like so many pop acts these days. Her first release, Postage Stamp, was a short and sweet number of raw yet appropriately folksy, popsy music. Definitely check her out if you’re a fan of plain good old passionate singing, song writing and honest delivery. Her originals section on her youtube page is a treasure trove for decided fans, as well.

Impressive, strong language on the G20, LeDrew!

Posted on June 27, 2010 by Shovas

Stephen LeDrew just came out with some very strong language against the government and the police in the wake of the Toronto G20. I never had much respect for LeDrew as he’s a bow-tie wearing lawyer but I have to say he’s gone up a notch in my books for speaking the truth about the events late Sun Jun 27 10. Keep that up, LeDrew!

Kudos to CP24 and CTV for G20 Coverage. A big thumbs down to CBC – where were you??

Posted on June 27, 2010 by Shovas

Big kudos to the indepth, on the spot, largely unbiased coverage I’ve been seeing from CP24 and CTV. Although I have to say I was disappointed in Ann Rohmer’s reporting which seemed to over-sympathize with authories. And a big thumbs down to CBC News Network and CBC Radio 1: Where in the world were you??

I’ve been watching the G20 Toronto coverage on CP24 and CBC News Network since yesterday and this is a no-win situation for Toronto, for Canada, and for Harper.

What good is the right to public assembly for protest if the authorities can take that right away on their whim?

Black Bloc needs a White Wall

Posted on June 26, 2010 by Shovas

Been watching the G20 coverage on CBC and CP24 for the past few hours. From what I can tell the Black Bloc, a group of black-clad individuals, has been causing mayhem and violence. If this Black Bloc is giving the government an excuse to take away our freedom to protest then I propose a White Wall: A group of citizens acting against Black Bloc individuals to prevent their mayhem, to stop and apprehend and contain these individuals. In other words, good citizens acting against bad citizens.

Firefox or Thunderbird unstable? Try starting a new profile.

Posted on June 23, 2010June 22, 2010 by Shovas

I use Thunderbird and Firefox at work on CentOS 5 w/KDE 3.5. I’m a long time user and gradually I’ve come have a certain distaste for the instability I’ve been experiencing, progressively more and more, over the past few years. I’ve tried many times to find out what the instability is on google. One day as I was searching, I apparently found my answer: Start a new profile.
