Universal Patterns

Universal patterns are descriptions of reality as such and how reality and being play out fractally at every level. Their value is not just in showing us how reality plays out but in showing which patterns produce optimal results. In this way, universal patterns are something like vectors in mathematics in that they can be seen as not only descriptors but predictors. Patterns are not special, or magical, or “woo”, they’re just descriptions for how reality really plays out. Once you see them, you can’t unsee them.

This isn’t so much an article as a scratchpad for myself to organize my constant realizations seeing universal patterns play out in real time.

Universal Patterns, An Incomplete List

  • The All, The One, The Source
    • I think of this as a Venn diagram with one big circle containing one or more inner circles representing sub-patterns contained in one universal pattern
  • The Return To The Source
    • The Hero’s Journey
  • The Center
    • The Home, The Peak, The Source
    • Surrounded by The Fringe, The Margin
    • Stability, peace, rest
  • The Fringe, The Margin
    • Journey to the Underworld
  • The Outside, The Exile
    • Beyond even The Fringe, The Outside represents a totally foreign space
  • The Scapegoat
    • The thing which must perish so that another can survive

    • If you know where a quantum particle is, you don’t know how fast it’s moving

  • The Synchronizing Force
    • Huygens’ synchronization phenomenon (ie. the tendency for separate pendulums to synchronize)
    • An event, effect, force, or agent which serves to synchronize otherwise separate systems
    • The force may not be a tangible thing, itself, but may manifest because of other effects (ie. separate pendulums movements influence other pendulums through the forces they transmit through the surface that they are all standing on)
    • Regular democratic elections
    • Bitcoin’s 4 year halving cycle
  • The De-Synchronizing Force
    • An event, effect, force, or agent which serves to de-synchronize otherwise unified systems
    • This is a ‘medium is the message’ kind of pattern
    • Democratic systems tending towards 2 main parties which increasingly become 2 increasingly divided worldviews

Notes

  • Patterns interact with other patterns (overlap, overlay, complement, oppose)
  • The manifestation of a pattern may require/depend on the manifestation/completion of one or more other patterns
  • Patterns emerge from the manifestation of other patterns. For example, from a pattern of dishonesty will tend to emerge other patterns of deceit, hiding, obfuscation, blurring, etc.
