Tigergate!

Posted on December 3, 2009December 3, 2009 by Matt

I had and still have no idea why the latest scandal involving Tiger Woods is making so much news.

I. Don’t. Get. It.

We hear this and much worse all the time. This is routine stuff folks.

What is it about this story that would get even CP24 devoting a whole program to it. I hope LeDrew is embarrassed about that show. I would’ve thought standards were higher there than tabloid fare.

Is it because of the level of celebrity that Woods is? I didn’t know he was very big at all. Outside golfing news how much do you hear about him?

Adultery is so routine in the news that I’m shocked it’s worthy of devoting so much attention to.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not condoning the behaviour. All this will do is bring it into the public conscience that much more and make it easier to accept and all the more prevalent.

Of all the hoopla surrounding this particular story, perhaps this is a quality piece: Woods’ transgression could be a teachable moment.

A lot of society today involves celebrities and the media, I would save such stories for Sports Center myself but enough is enough. The past few mornings waking up to Jeff Allen on 570 News (Kitchener-Waterloo news) is all Tiger Woods. Personally, I don’t give a crap about Tiger and a scandal is no big news. If the guy next door were to do it, there’d be no news unless it escalates into a murder or assault.

If the guy got drunk and crashed his car he’d get just as much coverage. The media has an unhealthy habit of pointing out celebrities (and especially Christan ones) shortcomings. When there are refugees dying everyday, children dying of aids, starvation and army crossfire everyday not even mentioned. and this BS is polluting the airwaves.. kind of pisses me off.
