I’ve always thought Luongo never should’ve taken captaincy even if it was offered. A goalie is not a proper captain.
As a goalie ,myself, I know that concentration is far more important to a goalie than other positions. So why burden yourself with the task of being the leader on the ice. Why bother with the media and fans who will scream bloody murder when you’re playing poorly that you’re not only over paid but you dishonour the C!
And, no, it’s just plain wrong that Luongo’s captaincy was rationalized because of his work ethic, or spirit or compete level.
Of course, I’m the kind of guy that would take $3 million instead of $6 to ensure that I under-promise and over-deliver.
Silly me for thinking it’s about the game and how well I play.
