#Charity365

You can’t give more than 100% but many giving even 1% can accomplish much, much more.

Five years ago I wrote about the struggle to begin giving charitably. My original concerns included questions such as “What charities would I give to?“, and “How do I donate in a personally satisfying and sustainable way?” It’s amazing to see where I am now compared to then and the relatively small, very gentle, very spread apart steps it has taken to this point in my giving. A lot has changed, and I think improved, in my giving and in my thinking about giving, but one thing is still at the core: Satisfaction, sustainability, and scalability. I’ll explain all that below.

CentOS 5 soft-raid1 mbr got wiped? You’re in luck!

I don’t know what happened but my CentOS 5 machine wouldn’t boot off the drive when I started it up today. I booted into the install CD’s rescue mode and followed these instructions. Remember to do it for both physical drives making up your raid1. That’s what made the fix work for me.

In this embrace…

In this embrace, five addressed five, “If we have found favour in your sight, and if it is pleasing in your eyes, please grant our petition.” And five replied, “What is your wish? It will be given you. And what is your request? Even up to one-fifth of our own, it will be granted.” “If it is favourable in your sight and pleasing in your eyes, take your leisure upon us.” And because the leisure was due, five alighted with five and found the embrace was true.

In this embrace, five solicited five, “If we have found favour in your sight, and if it is pleasing in your eyes, please grant our petition.” And five replied, “What is your wish? It will be given you. And what is your request? Even up to two-fifths of our own, it will be granted.” “If it is favourable in your sight and pleasing in your eyes, take your leisure upon us, and let us tend to you.” And because the touch delighted, and because the leisure was due, five rested with five and found the embrace was true.

In this embrace, five beseeched five, “If we have found favour in your sight, and if it is pleasing in your eyes, please grant our petition.” And five replied, “What is your wish? It will be given you. And what is your request? Even up to three-fifths of our own, it will be granted.” “If it is favourable in your sight and pleasing in your eyes, take your leisure upon us, let us tend to you, and caress your beautiful face.” And because the caress was welcome, and because the touch delighted, and because the leisure was due, five lay with five and found the embrace was true.

In this embrace, five implored five, “If we have found favour in your sight, and if it is pleasing in your eyes, please grant our petition.” And five replied, “What is your wish? It will be given you. And what is your request? Even up to four-fifths of our own, it will be granted.” “If it is favourable in your sight and pleasing in your eyes, take your leisure upon us, let us tend to you, caress your beautiful face, and let us join together to be like this for always.” And because their hearts hung together, and because the caress was welcome, and because the touch delighted, and because the leisure was due, five entwined with five and found the embrace was true.

In this embrace, five entreated five, “If we have found favour in your sight, and if it is pleasing in your eyes, please grant our petition.” And five replied, “What is your wish? It will be given you. And what is your request? Even to all that we have, it will be granted.” “If it is favourable in your sight and pleasing in your eyes, take your leisure upon us, let us tend to you, caress your beautiful face, let us join together to be like this for always, and hold this embrace forever .” And because the embrace was strong, and because their hearts hung together, and because the caress was welcome, and because the touch delighted, and because the leisure was due, five nestled with five and found the embrace was true.

I just got done watching the documentary over the weekend and it is well worth the watch for any fan. It is also a fascinating look, if not captivating, into the lives of a Christian band for those who weren’t fans.

Roper, et al., do a good and pleasantly extensive job of reviewing what remains of the known history of the band during each year of their career. Many of your questions will be answered while watching and I know FIF fans have many.

Every fan should get this DVD set. It’s a great, satisfying look at one of our favourite bands.

If you’re interested in FIF, here’s the most recent interview with the band’s lead singer, Reese Roper.

If you like Christian music at all you owe it to yourself to hear this band. I regret only hearing about them long after their break up.

I call Five Iron’s last album, the 2-cd set The End is Here, the best Christian release of all time. I have no reservations about calling it just simply the best release of all time, either. It’s just that good.
