Gobolinux is a linux distribution with a different goal than most distributions: Try things out that should be doable on unix-like operating systems but are often complicated by tradition, ritual or most likely laziness. Gobo isn’t going to be your desktop, unless you’re a masochist, but it is an interesting commentary on some valuable principles we started with which are losing traction.
An Observation on Justice in the Aftermath of Atrocities
When one really thinks about the things that ordinary, average citizens went along with during the Nazi period of Germany, we begin to realize that we are lucky that we were not German at that point in time. We know we would most likely have fared no more ethically than those accused and convicted. And, yet, even knowing our own guilt, avoided only chance, we understand we must forge ahead and and prosecute these people to the full extent of the law, even to death.

We were on the market in the twentieth century. How many can say that? There has only ever been myself operating RedRival but I do owe many thanks to people who have helpd me over the years.

Audio Codecs – Enjoying Music vs The Audiophile Argument
In lossy compression formats, like mp3, aac, aac+, ogg, etc., everyone always tries a new format and listens extremely closely for audible quality problems. The problem here is how you listen to music normally and how you analyze music in detail.Everyone listens to music for enjoyment, not paying much attention to quality. But when it comes to thinking about an encoding format, everyone immediately becomes an audiophile and won’t let go of their high bit rate files.
Disdaining Gentoo (Part 2)
In a previous post I mentioned I ditched gentoo for ubuntu and then switched to kubuntu shortly after. This is all in a span of a week or two. Well, I just switched again.
